Preschool Staff


Program Director
Nicola Dahlin MEng PEng

Nicola has a long history and connection with the preschool. Her 3 children attended Christ Church Preschool, and she sat on the Board for 5 years, 3 as Board Chair. An engineer by background, Nicola worked in the oil & gas industry for 17 years, before leaving to spend more time with her family. She has a certificate in non-profit management from MRU and has volunteered with several non-profits.


Head Teacher
Jennifer Booker BEd
Jennifer (Ms. Jen), has a bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. She has travelled to Reggio Emilia in Italy to study and better understand the Reggio Approach of teaching young children. Jennifer is currently studying Language and Literacy development for young students and is connected to the Reggio network here in Calgary. Jennifer's three children all attended Christ Church Preschool prior to her employment. She has been in the preschool’s community for 13 years, teaching for 8 of those. She has a genuine passion for helping children explore their interests and developing their talents and gifts. She believes that each child has their own unique view of the world and should be assisted in discovering their way of expressing their thoughts and ideas.

Veronica Ordzygozdz MEd

Veronica has been with the preschool since 2005. A native of Poland, she has a Master's Degree in Education from Jagiellonian University in Cracow and an Early Childhood Diploma - Level III. Veronica has been involved in early childhood education in Calgary for many years, both as a teacher and in a director role. She brings an inquiring mind, a love of children, a host of creative ideas and a gentle and warm manner to the classroom.

Maria Minutoli-Okrainec BEd

Maria was born and raised in Calgary, and is of Italian descent. She attended the University of Calgary, graduating with a Bachelor of Education. Maria taught with the Calgary Catholic School Board for 12 years before leaving to be a full-time mom to her two children, Matthew and Rylee. Maria has a passion for teaching and reading; especially children’s literature. She enjoys travelling, biking, and skiing with her family.


Music Teacher
Holger Mauthe

Holger, a native of Germany, is on the faculty at MRU Conservatory, where he serves as Facilitator for the Early Childhood Programs. He is a graduate of the Orff Institute of the University Mozarteum in Austria, and taught in Finland, Russia and Sweden before moving to Canada. He is guided by Carl Orff's belief that there is a hidden artist in EVERY human being. Through music and movement, he fosters creativity, conveys musical knowledge and skills, and nurtures an appreciation for music in a non-competitive, playful atmosphere. Holger has been with the preschool since 2005 and his classes have become an integral part of the program. He also offers parented classes for babies and toddlers at Christ Church.

Karli Martin

Karli is a Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies graduate. She has extensive training in Behaviour Analysis, and for the past 18 years has worked in the Private School Sector, both as a Behaviour Therapist and Program Coordinator, teaching children with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Karli believes that all children are beautiful, creative, curious and capable individuals; and is passionate about fostering their development and potential.

Monique has been a member of Christ Church since she was born and on the board of the preschool since 1999, when her daughter was one of its first students. She has been very happy to help support this wonderful partnership between Christ Church and the families and teachers who make the school such a unique and important part of the community.

Shauna Cumming
CPA CA

Shauna is a Manager at MNP and has been working for the firm for over seven years. She received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary in 2008 and her Chartered Accountant designation in 2012. Shauna has experience in various fields including corporate and personal tax returns and audits of NPO's and private corporations. Shauna was a member of the Christ Church Children's and Adult Choirs for more than 12 years.

Board Member/Church Liaison

Doug Patterson

Doug and his wife Janet have lived in Elbow Park and been members of Christ Church since 1982. Doug has been a Rector’s Warden and a member of the Vestry, as well as serving as Chair of the church’s Board of Management. He was also a member of the Renewing the Welcome Committee which oversaw the major renovations at Christ Church. Doug has two daughters who both attended Thumbelina preschool and Elbow Park Public School.

The Rev'd David Pickett

BA (Hons) MDiv, DD
Inducted as the Rector of Christ Church in 2016, David Pickett is a member of the Preschool Board and an advocate of the relationship of the preschool with both the church and the wider community. He has a strong commitment to the wider mission and purpose of the church as Rector, and sees the Preschool as both an asset to the church and as invaluable to the development of strong children, households and community. Fr. David has two grown chilren in their 20's. His full bio is here.
