Advent and Christmas Worship (Under Construction... Advent means "Coming". More is coming!)

Worship Times | Advent and Christmas | Holy Week and Easter
| Other Holy Days and Feasts

The seasons of the church year are set out to represent the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus. We are careful at St. John's to prepare well for the important festivals, including observing a holy Advent leading up to the Feast of the Nativity, Christmas.

Advent I, Lessons and Carols, and Advent IV - Nine Lessons and Carols - see calendar
These wonderful celebrations of scipture and music are seasonal highlights. Fashioned like a vigil leading up to Christmas, they recounts the story of the promise of the ages being kept in God's sending of Jesus, born of Mary. Anthems, carols and beloved readings make up these services of the word.

Christmas Eve, 4pm - Christmas Living Nativity
A highlight each year, with our youth and children we present a living nativity outdoors... telling the story of the first Christmas, shepherds, angels, sheep, costumes and all. We welcome visitors of all ages, families, kids, seniors or singles. Dress warmly, to get safely to the hot chocolate afterwards. This event will have you on your way in plenty of time for children to be settled, ready for the visit of St. Nicholas, or you are welcome to remain and attend Choral Eucharist.

Christmas Eve, 7:30pm and 10:30pm
Full, sung choral Eucharists crown our Christmas celebrations. You are welcome at these services which include beloved carols, anthems and the reading of the Christmas gospel. Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day
Christmas Day is second only to Easter as a high feast in the Church. At 10:30am, Christmas Communion is celebrated in the community. This service includes carols, a warm welcome and the good news of Christ's birth. You are welcome!
